Kitchen Design and Planning

As with most things in life planning and initial design is so important when embarking on a project.  My love of kitchen design stems from my love of cooking and actually realising I was a half decent cook.  At the age of 18 I stumbled on the realisation that the quickest way to a girls heart was to be able to cook her a good dinner.
 

The point of this little tale is to emphasis that when I am designing a refurbishment or a whole new kitchen, it’s personal, born out of experience. From dinner parties, catering my daughters wedding and putting tea on the table after school, kitchens and cooking are for me an integral part of my life. I am not just sitting at computer turning out computer aided drawings.

The reason that I feel that this element is so important in my ability as a designer is that I will take into consideration not just the look and feel, but how the kitchen is to be used, what your practical and functional needs are also.

 

Any kitchen refurbishment is usually about making what you have work and look better. It is often the little touches such as upgrading drawers or fixing a hinge, that make the biggest difference.

If the project involves taking a wall out and changing the shape of the room then there is also scope for moving things around. I often suggest changing the function of units, converting one into an effective recycling and waste store, or changing a cupboard to pull out pan drawers.

Whichever I do for you the process is the same, I help and guide you through the choices available at every stage. I will be quite prescriptive if I feel you are making a mistake, make suggestions and recommendations that will have never occurred to you and make sure that you get the best for your budget.
